”In the Esclans valley, angels whisper. If you drink this wine, you might hear them. If you visit us, you might see them…” Sacha Lichine
Now, that’s a promise and a half! This is Provence after all with stunning scenery, wine and food, so I’m willing to take the chance…
Whispering Angel is the name of the ‘cuvée’, which means ‘a particular wine in a range’. The range in question here belongs to the rather fabulous Château D’Esclans in Provence and Whispering Angel, their best selling cuvée, has become incredibly famous of late, with some big names seen sipping it.
Côtes de Provence is the ‘appellation’ within the region of Provence and having this written on the label means that the wine has been made according to strict regulations. It is also a guarantee of quality, which in the rosé wine category, is no bad thing!
Rosé wines come in myriad colours and styles from the almost fluorescent, sickly sweet to the pale, elegant and dry. It’s often hard to know what you’re getting with rosé, but pink wine from the Côtes de Provence is always a safe bet for a go-to version of the latter.
