Career Pathway

Our fantastic Career Pathway provides detailed training & development, for everyone in our pub & kitchen teams. Whichhever level you may join us at, there is always an opportunity waiting to take you to the next level. We are passionate about developing our teams, all the way up to running our pubs, and kitchens, or even developing into our support roles in Copper House. Our Career Pathway is now all online, so it can be completed on desktop or phone, alongside practical elements in our pubs, of course!

Service Masters

Our Service Masters Programme invites the most passionate people in our business to be the champion of service and team training in their pub. Led by our Operators and supported by the Learning & Development Team, our Service Masters deliver in-depth and exciting training in their pub, inspiring our teams to deliver a fantastic customer journey for everyone who walks through the door.

General Manager Designate programme

This three month program is designed to support and develop our most experienced Deputy Managers in a finishing school, to becoming the next General Managers. Starting with a detailed training plan around based our GMDs current role, supported by their General Manager, Retail Trainer and assigned Mentor. Each week is designed to hone skills in a different area of the business, and our GMDs also attend central training courses run by experts from the Copper House support team. Our GMDs will also complete short-term holds at different pubs in the business, with regular feedback and support. We pride ourselves on developing our teams, and thanks to the success of the GMD program, we recruit over 70% of our General Managers from within the company

Team Training

Our dedicated team of trainers want to ensure the teams in Young’s have all the training they require at any level. Often this means running training sessions in one of our incredible pubs

So that the full team can reap the benefits. Our trainers work with the management teams to deliver these sessions and they can range from Team Engagement sessions, Customer Journey

sessions or Hospitality and Service Excellence sessions all adapted to the people and pub they are working with.

Apprenticeships

Our Career Pathway for both our Pub Teams and our Kitchen Teams includes the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship. We currently run three major apprenticeship programmes within our Career Pathway, working closely with our Apprenticeship provider; The Performance Learning Group, who are industry experts & committed to supporting our apprentices at every stage of their qualification. We also have a number of individual apprenticeship opportunities available for our employees across the business.
