January 26 marks the official national day of Australia. One of Australia’s best known export product is their delicious wine. At Young’s pubs we are lucky to have some great Aussie wines on the menu.

One of our favourite Australian wines is the Deakin Estate Artisan’s Blend Shiraz Cabernet. The warm and sunny climate of South Eastern Australia makes for a rich and juicy style of red wine, with aromas of ripe plum, black berries and hints of vanillin oak. It is the perfect wine to pair with red meat on the BBQ or roast lamb, two staples of Aussie cuisine. A cheese platter would also work really well with this smooth red.

- Pinot Gris is the same grape as Pinot Grigio but gives a very different style of wine. Pinot Grigio wines tend to be light and delicate in flavour, while Pinot Gris offers much more aroma concentration. This gives wines that are richer and plumper in style
- Just like many other well-known grape varieties, Pinot Gris is originally from France. It has travelled all over the world, which is why we have this delicious Australian example on our menu
