Sauvignon Tricks For Your Pumpkin Treats

22nd November 2020

With Thanksgiving just around the corner and only a few more weeks to make the most of the UK’s pumpkin season, we’ve teamed up with our good friends at Berkmann Wine Cellars to find out the best wines to pair with your pumpkin creations this November.

Sauvignon Blanc may be one of the most popular grape varieties in the world but there are very different versions from across the world. Those coming from France are linear, racy and clean with mineral and citrus flavours. Moving towards Chile and New Zealand the warmer climate and long hours of sunshine give riper aromas combining delicious tropical fruit flavours with lively freshness that makes them especially satisfying.

  1. Morandé Coleccion Privada Sauvignon Blanc Reserva – Maule, Chile

From the Maule region in Chile, Morandé were the first family to recognise the fantastic potential of this cool-climate wine region gaining immediate recognition both domestically and abroad.  This is an exceptional Sauvignon Blanc with really vivid aromas of grapefruit, peach and herbs. The palate is juicy and full of flavour, yet dry and refreshing to finish.

  1. Featherdrop Bay Sauvignon Blanc – Marlborough, New Zealand

Featherdrop Bay is a classic New Zealand style coupled with exceptional value for money. Lively aromas of gooseberry, passionfruit, grapefruit and crisp red capsicum. Bold flavours of lemon, lime, grapefruit and gooseberry tantalise the palate and provide a refreshing clean finish and a youthful vitality.

  1. Babich Organic Headwaters Sauvignon Blanc – Marlborough, New Zealand

A sensational Marlborough Sauvignon produced with a sustainable approach. Vibrant gooseberry, grapefruit and lemon aromas are followed by herbaceous and mineral notes. Medium-weight on the palate, with a finish that is both fleshy and zesty.

  1. De La Gemiere Sancerre, Sauvignon Blanc – Sancerre, Loire Valley

From grapes grown on clay and limestone soils, De La Gemiere Sancerre offers crisp yet floral aromas. The palate shows juicy citrus fruit alongside the trademark elegance and minerality of the appellation and an elegant mouth-feel given from the several months on lees before bottling.
