Find your Cheltenham race day stay

Cheltenham has a habit of drawing people in, first with the thrill of the races, the early starts, the roar of the crowd as they thunder down the final stretch. And then comes that moment, as the last race is run and the day turns into evening, when where you’re staying really matters.

Our pubs with rooms around Cheltenham are made for race days done properly. From calm, beautifully kept rooms in the heart of town to historic inns and welcoming village pubs across the Cotswolds, each offers a genuine welcome, thoughtful comfort, and the kind of food and drink that feels well earned after a day trackside.

Here, the experience doesn’t end when you leave the racecourse. There’s time for one more drink, a good meal, and conversation that stretches a little longer. Upstairs, a proper room where you can switch off, sleep well, and wake up ready to do it all again.

The Racing Calendar 2026

Planning a stay outside of Cheltenham Festival? There’s exceptional racing to enjoy all year round. From early-season fixtures and mid-winter meetings to spring and autumn race days, Cheltenham Racecourse hosts a packed calendar that’s well worth building a break around.

Whether you’re visiting for a major racing weekend or a quieter meet, our rooms are designed for switching off at the end of the day. Expect comfortable beds, thoughtful details, and welcoming pubs downstairs serving great food and well-kept drinks, everything you need after a day trackside.

No 38 The Park, Cheltenham

If you’re coming to Cheltenham for the races, No.38 The Park makes it easy to do it properly. You’re close to the racecourse, well placed for the buzz of town, and just far enough away to unwind when the day is done.

Start with a relaxed, well-timed breakfast before heading trackside. When the racing’s over, stay out for a drink or two, including Cheltenham favourites like the Final Furlong Bar. Then back to good food, a calm atmosphere, and a comfortable room that does exactly what it should.

Sleep well, wake up ready, and do it all again tomorrow.

The George, Cheltenham

If you like your race days followed by a bit of space and breathing room, The George is Cheltenham racing done differently. Set in the heart of Cheltenham it offers an easy run to the racecourse by day and a calmer place to land afterwards.

Start the morning with a proper breakfast before heading into Cheltenham, then return once the crowds thin and the noise fades. Back at The George, the rooms are made for switching off. Sleep well, wake refreshed, and enjoy the feeling that tomorrow can start at your pace.

The Wheatsheaf, Northleach

For race days followed by proper peace and quiet, The Wheatsheaf is hard to beat. Set in the Cotswolds village of Northleach, it offers a slower pace and a more relaxed way to enjoy Cheltenham racing.

Head to the course knowing you’ll be coming back somewhere calm. Supper is unhurried, the atmosphere is warm, and the rooms upstairs are made for a good night’s sleep. Wake up rested, enjoy breakfast at your own pace, and head back out feeling ready for the day ahead.

The Bell, Stow-on-the-Wold

If you want Cheltenham racing with a bit more energy after the last race, The Bell strikes the balance. Right in the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold, it’s lively without feeling rushed, and social without being noisy.

Start with a good breakfast before heading into Cheltenham, then come back for an evening that feels like part of the trip, not an afterthought. Good food, a welcoming bar, and rooms that let you properly switch off once the night winds down.
