Why are apprenticeships important?
Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to earn while you learn. Through “Off Job Hours” you will apply all your new learnings to the job you already have meaning you spend very little time away from the business and most of your time learning on the job. Apprenticeships also provide structure to your career development and give you the opportunity to gain a qualification without having to take time away from your day job.
Can anyone do an apprenticeship at Young’s
Yes! Apprenticeships are available to anyone at Young’s. We have everything from Marketing courses to Front of House and Kitchen courses. Whatever your ambition there’s definitely an apprenticeship to help you get there! There are however a few key criteria that you will need:
- You must be 16 or over
- Live in England full time (there are some restrictions around certain Visa’s)
- Not in full-time education
- Must not have a similar qualification
- Maths & English GCSEs (if you don’t have these you can sit your exams beforehand)
- The apprenticeship must be relevant to the majority of your Job role.
What courses do you offer?
We offer everything from level 2 (GCSE level) to level 7 (Master’s Degree level) apprenticeships. They range from Back of House courses for Commis Chefs and CDPs to Front of House supervisor and management courses. We also have a variety of apprenticeships for Copper House that include courses in Learning and Development, Coaching, Operations, and even Marketing. We are always on the lookout for exciting programmes so even if none of those take your fancy we can always look into sourcing something new.
What’s your top tip for doing an apprenticeship?
Once you’ve researched and found the right apprenticeship for you make sure to stay organised and keep on top of your time management. Remember – the apprenticeship is there for YOUR development, it’s an opportunity for you to prioritise your learning and put into practice your leanings in real time!
