Find us on the London pub crawl

Olde worlde pub serving traditional British meals with daily changing specials. No TV or music, just lively conversation.

This beautifully preserved, Grade II listed Victorian pub still has the etched glass snob screens in place above the bar. These frosted glass snob screens were popular in the 1890s and hid the customer from the publican when they ordered their drinks, but the hinges still allowed the the bar staff to check on the customers without disturbing their privacy. The glorious history of the pub and the area is also commemorated by an original working polyphon in the pub (the predecessor to the gramophone) and sepia prints of music hall players.

The pub is named after William Lamb who in 1577 improved upon an existing conduit to bring clean water down from Holborn as an act of charity to benefit the neighbourhood. The Lamb was probably built around 1729 and still had one of the orignal wells in the back yard until the early 1900s.

I discovered the Lamb via a book called Quiet London and i absolutely love the place the staff are great very friendly and although i live in Northamptonshire i travel down to the city at least twice a month i always finish up in the Lamb and dispite being over 50 miles away this is without doubt the best 'local' i have ever had.

I used to work in this pub many moons ago and have always loved it.
I took my daughter there to show her what a real London pub is all about.
Outstanding beer well kept and very pleasant staff.
This is how all pubs should be

I had the pleasure of visiting London with my wife to give at talk ay GOSH. During our stay we made several visits to your Pub. It was a fantastic experience made even more special by one of your bartenders, Merlin. He was wonderful, gracious and knew his stuff! The bar was great but because of Merlins hospitality we kept coming back. Also, we had the opportunity to speak with Leigh , the manager, who was also gracious ad entertaining.

The next time we are in London we will certainly pay another visit to your fine establishment!

I've been one of the frequenters to the Lamb during my time abroad in London, living and studying minutes away from the British Museum. The atmosphere is incredible, and the staff equally as amazing. I've never felt more like a local than when I was at the Lamb, where I'd always have a Young's Special, my drink of choice, along with a bowl of chips, as I would do my reading for my modules, or, as the staff like to tease me, 'study for the Quiz,' which I always lose every Sunday night. When I return to London, know that this will be the first place I visit, where I can have a pint once more with all my friends at the place that is my home away from home.
