20 Wedding Trends for 2020

18th February 2020

We’re firmly in the New Year and if you’re still enjoying the wonderful chaos of being
engaged, it’s time to start thinking about wedding planning. While we believe your
wedding should be completely unique and personal to your love story, we always enjoy
keeping a close eye on the predicted wedding trends for the year ahead. Taking
inspiration from the world of fashion, interior design, food and even travel, discover 20
of our favourite wedding trends for 2020.

1.Sustainable Weddings

Being kinder to the environment is a hot topic everywhere at the moment – in fact, it’s
pretty much impossible to ignore so it’s no wonder we’re seeing more and more
couples seeking ways to be more sustainable with their celebration. From foam-free
florals to elopements, there are plenty of ways you can give your wedding day an eco-friendly
nod.

2.Long Banquet Tables

Not only do long banquet tables offer oodles of styling options, they lend themselves
well to both indoor and outdoor weddings. Dress them up with patterned table cloths
and florals, or keep it understated and stylish with wooden trestle tables and foliage.
The choice is yours, but we’re pleased to hear long tables are sticking around for a little
while longer.

3.Embroidered Wedding Dresses

In 2020, we’ll see brides ditching tradition and opting for bridal wear that features 3D
floral appliqué and detailed embroidery. Think modern-bohemian vibes and you’ll be
wedding day ready.

4.Floral Clouds

It wouldn’t be a wedding trend feature without florals! Brides and grooms are swapping
centrepieces for something a little more unique, with floral clouds set to steal the
spotlight for 2020. Florists are able to suspend the designs from the ceiling to give the
illusion of ‘floating’ and this is one trend we can’t get enough of.

5.City Weddings / Pub Weddings

More and more couples are swapping country manor houses for something that’s a
little cosier, without having to compromise on style. A city location or a pub venue can
offer a homely yet on-trend vibe with brilliant service, heart-warming food and an
unforgettable atmosphere. No matter where in the country you may be, Young’s Pubs
have a superb selection of venues for you to browse through.

6.The Year of Extravagance

Forget minimalism, 2020 is all about maximalism. From your colour palette to your
décor, this trend is an excuse to embrace the extravagance. Think bold hues, epic floral
design and elaborate styling that will turn heads.

7.Alternative Catering Options

This trend is guaranteed to tantalise the taste-buds! This year will see vegetarian and
vegan menus making more of an appearance in the world of weddings, with veggie
grazing tables having a real moment in the industry. Relaxed yet luxurious and
ridiculously delicious!

8.Let’s Talk about Textures

This year, it’s time to create a tactile experience for your guests. Wedding suppliers will
be getting creative when it comes to textures in 2020. From the softest velvet table
cloths you can find, embossed invitations with metallic foiling and draped fabric
curtains surrounding your ceremony space, this is a chance to get creative with
textures.

9.Statement Bridal Headbands

Headbands are everywhere at the moment and they’re taking the bridalwear industry
by storm for 2020. Whether you opt for an oversized headband or a dainty design, you
can be sure you’ll be looking seriously on trend as you walk down the aisle.

and 90s, and we can’t wait to see brides rocking this fashion-forward wedding dress

Flowers that look good enough to eat… Too good to be true? Wrong! You’ll find edible
