New look for locals favourite, The Windmill in Clapham

10th May 2021

Local favourite, The Windmill on Clapham Common, has had a gorgeous makeover for spring – spruced up, shiny and looking forward to welcoming guests to its new garden and for indoor dining from 17th May.

Expect elegant new light-filled spaces, modern furniture, and eye-catching design features complete with feature walls and a group Moriarty drinks table for catching up on all those missed moments. The new Solarium comes with plush booth seating and splashes of greenery, including a plant wall, whilst the revamped al fresco all-weather garden has everything you need for a summer of socialising.

Pair this with all-day British seasonal menus running from brunch to a cracking Sunday Roast, and a wide selection of craft ales and spirits, all surrounded by the greenery of the common, and The Windmill is a go-to destination for south west Londoners.

The Garden

Ready for alfresco dining, catch-up with friends and family in the heated and covered garden, split across three zones, with additional outdoor seating on the extended decking, as well as a new Shack Garden, complete with bookable Max Shack. The outdoor Burger Shack will be back with a lip-smacking menu, from classic beef patties through to chicken katsu and a whole variety of plant-based options including a barbecued jackfruit, with vegan cheese and pink onions.

The Food

From Young’s classic pub dishes to modern British plates, expect menus that showcase the best of seasonal produce, utilising local and independent suppliers throughout. From daily-changing prime cuts, all sourced from local butcher, The Ginger Pig, such as an 800g Tomahawk Steak, and new sharing plates including Short Rib Poutine with sriracha hot cheese, alongside vibrant vegan dishes, there is something for all tastes. Sundays are naturally about showstopping roasts with a choice of cuts, plus a vegan alternative, topped off with the all-important roasties, seasonal veg, signature double egg Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy. For groups and families, the sharing platter is a smorgasbord of Sunday roast delights.

The Bar

With nods to Victorian design through brass edging detail and Victorian cabinets, the statement bar is the ultimate spot after-work drinks and pre-dinner tipples. Expect an extensive range of real ales and craft beers, alongside classic cocktails, London gins and fine wines.

The Hotel

Upstairs is home to The Windmill’s 42 bespoke bedrooms, all elegantly styled and full of quirky touches. Whether it is a couple’s getaway, family break or staycation with friends, The Windmill offers an array of accommodation options, from Boutique Doubles to the Master suite complete with its own lounge area.
