Cheers to Kindness
Pubs are small hubs of community loveliness (we know you know this) and there’s nowhere better on earth to make a new mate. Think about it – how many times have you been for a night out and ended up making friends with a random?
Whether it’s girls swapping stories (and compliments) in the ladies loos, or nattering with someone standing solo at the bar – there’s something about the everyone’s-welcome pub atmosphere that turns small talk into big connections.
And so, the pub is a pretty good place to start if you’re looking for ways to get involved this Random Acts of Kindness Week. We’ve rounded up some small (but impactful) ways that you can help to make someone feel like the bees knees at your local.

1. Buy a stranger a pint. Or a hot chocolate. Or whatever their bev of choice is. You’ll feel like a champ saying ‘That’s on me’.
2. Compliment someone. Can be as simple as ‘My, you have good taste in beer’ or ‘You have hair like a Disney princess’. Chatting to a stranger can give them those top-of-the-world feels.
3. You could hold open the pub door or let somebody go ahead of you at the bar. Nothing makes people smile more than honest-to-goodness manners.
4. Rummage in your trouser pocket for a few quid and donate it to charity. We love to fundraise for Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, so you could start there. Or clear out your cupboards and drop off a bag of bits to your local food bank.
5. And lastly, why not just give someone a big, toothy smile? This super-simple gesture can brighten someone’s day and really make them feel the bee’s knees.
Oh, a final piece of advice from us to finish off, if we may. You must remember to be kind to yourself too. Not just on Random Acts of Kindness Day, but always.
Hey – you could even take yourself out and buy yourself a beer?
