6 things you need to enjoy the Six Nations at the pub, with Rugby Nause

I’m here to share the time-honoured Rugby Nause strategy for enjoying the Six Nations – developed over years of getting it wrong – so you can make sure you cover every base for the rest of the tournament.
1. Nail the game plan: As the saying goes, if you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail. Make sure you pick the right venue, with the right screen-to-seat ratio, and arrive on time so you and your group don’t miss a moment.
2. Pre-match analysis: a Nause family tradition is that we all pick our winner, margin, and first try scorer. Whether you’re playing for a pot, a round, or just for fun, it adds an extra layer to the games.
3. Stay hydrated: back-to-back games, or even Super Saturday with three in a row, is a long day. Make sure you get plenty of water onboard and if you’re drinking, a great pro-tip is to swap every other drink for a zero.
4. Prioritise nutrition: that 30 min gap between the two Saturday games is crucial – get the calories in so the day can carry on. Take inspiration from the lads on the field and pack in the protein.
5. Get your tactics down: take your toilet breaks at the right time, and don’t forget to make that crucial half-time phone call to anyone you might’ve abandoned to enjoy the game. Just don’t let them think you’re having too much fun.
6. Get your head in the game: forget your phone, forget the football scores and forget what people are saying on Twitter. There are only five Six Nations weekends a year and it’s worth savouring every moment.
