Rattlebone Inn
Church Street, Sherston, Wiltshire. SN16 0LR

This is a beautiful 16th century pub set in the lovely Cotswold village of Sherston. The pub is named after John Rattlebone who was fatally wounded in the Battle of Sherston in 1016 when he fought alongside Edmund Ironside and defeated King Canute. The legend tells that after he was fatally wounded in the stomache, he picked up a slab of stone from the quarry outside the village to stop the flow of blood and fought on until the end!

The pub itself is a lovely country inn with a village bar, saloon bar and large restaurant with up to 70 covers. We have an extensive menu covering everything from sandwiches, to pub classics such as bangers and mash, to classic game and country dishes (wild boar is a particular favourite, but be warned, it always sells out fast). We are quickly gaining a reputation for having the best food and service in the area. We also pride ourselves in only using the best local and free range meats and ingredients.

In addition, the pub has two gardens, two boules pistes and a skittle alley that is available for hire for either functions or skittles matches.

We also cater for large or small functions, and can tailor our menus to your needs (anything from finger buffets, to curries, to 'carve your own roasts', to full three course a la carte menus).

Met up with our daughter and son-in-law at the Rattlebone a while ago. Super food and both beer and wine but not exorbitant prices and enjoyed a long chat and game of doms.
Great place, recommend it !
