Dating back to somewhere around 1700, the Green Man on Putney Heath stands on an old duelling spot. The pub was often the refuge for the contestants after the battles.

Putney Heath is also notorious for its history of Highwayman, rumour has it that Dick Turpin once stashed his guns in the upstairs room. Other robbers supposedly watched their intended victims taking refreshment in the pub before going after them once they resumed their journey across the heath.

But there's no danger of any highwaymen these days, just a cosy welcoming pub with a landscaped garden, great beers and a scrumptious menu. If the weather is kind, the sunshine turns us into mean, keen grilling machines when we get the BBQ out! This summer also sees the re-opening of our Garden Bar, so you can still catch the rays whilst ordering your Pimms.

Having a party or just a gathering with friends? Why not hire out our Lawn? Ideal for groups of up to 40. Pop in and discuss with our wonderful team.

It took my friend and I over a year to find a pub we really enjoyed visiting. From the moment we stepped inside this friendly, small but perfectly run pub, we have not been to another! The staff are excellent,(and they like our dogs) the food is really good and the garden in the summer is to die for!

Many years ago when i lived in London .I lived in putney and drove the buses and i was on the 14,22,39,70 routes which came out of putney garage when i had my rest days i enjoyed a drink in the green man i lived in cortis road so not far from the heath when i visit london next i will go and enjoy a drink or 2 in the green man
David - Great Little Pub

A great little pub at the end of the number 14 bus route. We always call in for a few drinks when we visit London, the favourite being August bank holiday Sunday, hoping for good weather so we can enjoy the wonderful beer garden. We have always been made to feel very welcome by the staff, who have always been friendly and helpful.
Looking forward to visiting in July when we go to the Championships.
