We know British summertime has begun when the annual Wimbledon Tennis Championships arrives. There is nothing more quintessentially British than watching the tennis, eating lashings of strawberries and cream and then washing it down with a fruit-filled glass of Pimm’s.

Whether you are looking for a post or pre-match watering hole, or somewhere to park up for the day to watch the action on-screen, we have you covered.

Search below to find the best spot to watch matches, whether you want to be close to the action in an atmospheric Wimbledon pub, or just fancy going somewhere more local, either way when it comes to watching the tennis matches, nothing beats the pub.

Strawberry Fields

Wimbledon may be revered worldwide as the quintessential British experience, synonymous with Pimms, gin and an array of fashion conscious tennis superfans all looking for a piece of the action. However, there’s one superstar we haven’t mentioned, one that’s been quietly making its mark in the light of the UK’s greatest tournament. The humble but perfectly formed strawberry.

In 2018 over 1429 kilos were enjoyed throughout our pubs during the championships. A pretty respectable number, (albeit far from the 28k consumed at the actual championships) but as we all know size isn’t everything. We decided to investigate and find out what happened to all those berries from 2020…

In 2020 not a single strawberry went to waste. How you ask? Sipsmith came to the rescue and eliminated strawberry waste by using all the strawberries to create a special gin for the British summertime. We’re proud to have this behind our bars, so keep a lookout for Sipsmith Strawberry Smash when you come to visit next.

Pour yourself the perfect Pimm’s

As summer rolls around for another year, it’s time to dust off your garden furniture, stock up on factor 50 sun-cream and of course, crack open the Pimm’s.  A drink so quintessentially British it finds itself the centerpiece of every summer drink collection, and you could go as far as making the statement – it’s always Pimm’s o’clock!

In light of Wimbledon being around the corner, we have decided to put the debate to bed once and for all, and give our recipe for the perfect Pimm’s – tried and tested of course.
