Spend this summer in the city

12th July 2019

Don’t panic if you haven’t booked that all-important long haul holiday for this summer. With these long glorious sunny days, our colourful beer gardens and river-side terraces, and some of the best hotels around – there is no need to look outside of London for your summer getaway this year.  A city break can be even more enjoyable in the summer months, with guaranteed atmosphere and buzz.

From inner city walks admiring London’s stunning architecture, relaxing in green open spaces to trying new sizzling street food (our burger shacks should definitely be on this list!), traditional pubs and fine dining spots, here is how to enjoy the best city break in London this summer without breaking the bank.

Explore London’s Vibrant Neighbourhoods

One of the best things about London is how it is simply a collection of many villages, all of which are really diverse and could be in quite different cities.  This makes exploring London just that bit more exciting. If you fancy an afternoon soaking up history then take a trip to The Park Hotel, in Teddington where after admiring it’s grandeur (bonus, it’s a London hotel with parking!), you can wander around Hampton Court Palace and Bushy Park, famous for being Henry VIII’s residence and hunting ground.

Alternatively, you could stay at The Station, in South-East London and be transported to a trendy, laid-black atmosphere.  With the beautiful villages of Blackheath and Greenwich on the doorstep, you can explore the world famous Meridian Line, tonnes of museums and even watch the sunset over one of London’s best viewpoints.

Soak up the summer sporting atmosphere

A summer of sports is upon us, with the women absolutely smashing it in the Football World Cup this year, Wimbledon providing that very British feel and London hosting the 2019 Cricket World Cup at The Oval and Lord’s Cricket Ground.  If we hadn’t been spoiled enough, the summer of 2019 also brings us both the Summer Rugby Internationals this August and the Rugby World Cup looming later down the line in September.

For any sports fan out there, the excitement of all these events might just be too much, and where better to soak up the atmosphere and cheer on your team than the pub.  With all our hotels having fabulous pubs and restaurants downstairs, showing matches, serving great food and pouring pints – sit back and let us look after you whilst you get a taste of the action this summer.  For the die-hard rugby fans out there, The Alexander Pope Hotel is moments from Twickenham Stadium, meaning you can hear the crowd roar during games, and get involved in their legendary post-match terrace parties!

Best of both worlds

With the technology boom in full swing, some of us just can’t switch off, and the idea of a holiday somewhere remote sends a disconnected shiver down the spine.  When staying at one of our hotels, you can have the best of both worlds. Take the Rose & Crown in Wimbledon, on the edge of the vast and tranquil Wimbledon Common, and in the middle of a picturesque village, you wouldn’t think you were less than 20 minutes from Central London.  The Rose & Crown is the perfect go-to destination for guests wanting free and fast Wi-Fi, great transport links, but a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle.

No need to break the bank

Booking that perfect holiday abroad can sting the wallet.  By staying in the UK, holidayers can truly treat themselves.  That delicious meal for two, no problem. Local tourist attractions, sign me up. A glass or two of bubbly, oh go on then.

With the Young’s summer hotel offer, including an overnight stay, meal for two, and a cooked breakfast in the morning, you can indulge yourself this summer without breaking the bank.  With stays throughout July and August, up until 8th September, use the code SUMMER19 when booking directly on our website.
