Ali and the team welcome you to the King's Arms.

The site of the King's Arms was originally an Augustinian Priory built in 1268. Following the dissolution of the monasteries in 1540, the land passed to the mayor and City of Oxford. An entry in the lease book of Oxford Council, dated 1607, states "Thomas Franklyn has licence to set up an inn with the sign of the King's Arms".
Franklyn's choice of the sign of the King refers to King James 1 (1603 - 1625) who was closely involved with the adjacent Wadham College.
The King's Arms history is intertwined with that of Oxford, with regular mentions in historical documents.
At various times a coaching inn and a hotel until 1973 its back bar, known as "The Office" was Oxford's last male only bar.
A Young's pub since 1991, the King's Arms today remains a busy and popular pub serving Oxford's academic community, locals and tourists alike.

The King's Arms celebrated it Quadricentenary Year in 2007.

George & Christine - Good Pub

We visited Oxford and had lunch at the Kings Arms. Good pub - good food - pleasant friendly atmosphere. Recommended.

Michael Yates - The KA - a classic pub

I have visited the Kings Arms regularly for more than 20 years - perhaps about the same period of time the pub has been part of the Young's estate. I have always enjoyed its pleasant atmosphere and good beer. Nowadays, though I live overseas, I'm thankfully often able to visit England. As the years pass by, some small changes have been made to the KA, but, in my view, it remains one of Oxford's classic taverns. Well done Young's, a superb pub!

bionic - Not bad

Had the steak and ale pie and husband had the roast. Food tasted great, but Sunday roast was small and the pie needed way more filling for the price paid. Great choice of ales and generally nice pub with friendly staff.
