Probably the only pub ever to have been named after a brewery employee, the Charlie Butler was opened by Young's in 1968 - Charlie Butler was head horsekeeper at Young's for 43 years!

Charlie was born in Lincolnshire in 1899 and joined Young's when he was 24 to help start up the show stables. It was Charlie Butler who started Young's famous association with the beautiful black Shires.

The pub sign shows Charlie with one of his horses who was called Steve.
