TRAINEE MANAGEMENT

Our philosophy is to recruit trainee managers from within the company –

Managers and area managers identify candidates who have completed at least three months in one of our pubs who have demonstrated they have the ability and commitment to being developed with a view to eventually manage their own Young’s pub. The essential characteristics that we look for include:

  • A willingness to learn
  • A great personality
  • A passion for excellent quality and service, and of course for pubs!
  • Entrepreneurial flair, drive and ambition
  • Leadership and motivational skills

Having been identified, candidates would then prepare a personal development plan and embark on the Young’s Passport to Management, completing development modules at an agreed pace and compiling a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their achievement.

The Training – Is mainly on-the-job, with specialist workshops and courses, together with projects and on going assessments covering all aspects of the business including:

  • customer care;
  • compliancy training (E-Learning in health and safety, food hygiene, licensing law and disability discrimination legislation)
  • bar and food service;
  • kitchen – food production and kitchen management;
  • administration and financial management;
  • Business development, marketing, leadership and management.

When the development period is nearly complete time will be allocated for relief management or "shadowing" to enable trainees to put into practice all they have learnt.

We are looking for very special people, with a genuine desire to make a difference and be the best.

Should you wish to become a Trainee Manager with Young’s then please apply for current pub vacancies to enable you to demonstrate, within your first three months, that you would be an ideal candidate to be developed.
You should find everything you need on these pages, but please feel free to call the recruitment line if you wish to talk to a real person…
